Tragic Outcome of Addiction: Ghaziabad Man Kills Mother Over Financial Dispute Linked to Substance Abuse
In a tragic incident in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a 25-year-old man named Shahrukh allegedly killed his 63-year-old mother, Dilshad Begum, during a dispute. The dispute reportedly stemmed from Shahrukh’s demand for money to sustain his addictions to drinking and drugs. According to police reports, Shahrukh assaulted his mother by striking her on the face and neck with a sharp weapon, leading to her death.
After the incident, Shahrukh went to a police outpost and initially claimed that a neighbor was responsible for his mother’s murder. However, upon further interrogation by the police, he confessed to the crime. The police also found the weapon used in the killing and Shahrukh’s blood-stained clothes. This case highlights the severe impact of addiction on familial relationships and the extreme outcomes it can lead to.
The police investigation revealed that Shahrukh had a history of financially exploiting his mother. Two years prior to the incident, he had taken Rs 3 lakh from her under the pretext of setting up a business but instead squandered the money and continued to demand more funds from her. This ongoing financial strain and Shahrukh’s addictions likely contributed to the escalation of the conflict that tragically ended in Begum’s death.
The authorities have sent the victim’s body for a post-mortem examination to further investigate the circumstances of her death. This incident has shed light on the darker aspects of addiction and its potential to destroy families. It serves as a reminder of the need for effective measures to combat substance abuse and provide support to those struggling with addiction and their families.
